We source our top-quality beef from our good neighbours, Raf and Luce Weemaes-Verhaert. With 45 years’ experience as beef farmers and traders, they are true experts in their field. They have 70 hectares of pasture, where they keep over 500 head of cattle, mainly Belgian Blue and Parthenaise. In addition, they grow their own crops, such as maize and sugar beet, on over 40 hectares of fertile farmland. These crops are subsequently used as feed for the cattle.
Raf still selects and purchases the majority of his Belgian Blue cattle himself from top breeders in the Ardennes. By minimising the number of intermediaries, the journey time for the animals is kept to a minimum, resulting in less stress and fatigue. Great attention is paid to the animals’ welfare. For instance, he has a barn that provides his animals with ample living space to live stress- and worry-free.
